Long story short, I needed to say something about what may well be the centerpoint of my life; fiction. It's my center, not because I spend all my time there, but because exploring fiction is the only way that I can really feel clean and justified. In fiction, I harm no one, fool no one, use no one and I'm never forced to taint myself by working on something I don't believe in. That's really at the center of the will to fantasize; the desire for, if not a higher calling, than at least a greater chance to live my life the way it should have been from the start, if the world hadn't decided that it wanted to force its will on me.
Let's face it; planet Earth is a terrible place to live. Everything that's evil exists here, and it was all caused by man. The freedom to live by the values you believe in does not exist, and the freedom to live, therefore, without compromising yourself morally also does not exist. The only currency honored by this system is naked, physical power sufficient to overturn society.
For me, that's what monsters really are; a story of hope and great things. They're hardly ever on the side of the angels, but if nothing else, they don't have to be bound by the foolish whims of popular opinion.
Neither do I, in my imagination. Neither does anyone in their fantasies. Without these things to comfort me, I would be just another slave to mankind, trudging through life like a walking pergatory... no joy... no hope... For me, all joy and hope comes in the form of seeing the status quo rapidly and forcibly changed, and so all joy and hope are fictional.
I may already be insane, but it's a harmless enough kind of insanity, and I have fiction to thank for that, be it fantasy, sci-fi, horror or anything else. All that's fantastic has brought me the hope I needed.
